Prayer Challenge

A few weeks ago, you received a letter with a 30, 60, 90 day prayer challenge.  This is just a prayer reminder to continue praying for God’s Church at Gatlin Creek.  May God continue to bless and guide us.

30, 60, 90 Day Challenge Prayer Points:

  • Pray each and every day for spiritual growth in yourself and your family.
  • Pray each and every day for the families that make up our church and for those families that God will lead to our church.
  • Pray each and every day for opportunities to tell others about the Good News of Jesus Christ and how He changed your life through the life of His church at Gatlin Creek.
  • Pray each and every day for our leaders (Staff, Deacons, SS Teachers, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Children Workers, Youth Workers, etc.)
  • Pray each and every day that as God meets our financial needs that He will change us more into the image of His Son through His Holy Spirit that indwells us.
  • Pray each and every day for what God would have your family give above your regular tithes to fund the replacement of the Educational Building roof after each 30 day period of seeking Him.

Dear Church Family,

During the April 10, 2013 Church Conference, we discussed our church finances, including the need to spend $15,000 on a new roof for the Education Building. Since that conference, I have met with the Finance Committee along with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Deacon body. We have prayed together to seek God’s guidance concerning the challenge we face financially in replacing the roof on the Educational Building. God revealed to us that He will provide for our needs- as He always has. With that in mind, I am not saying all we need to do is sit back and watch God work this out for us- which He can do that if He chooses. However, what I am saying is that replacing the roof is not our greatest challenge. Our greatest challenge right now, as His church at Gatlin Creek, is to simply stop allowing the cares of this world and our own self sufficient mind set to crowd our hearts and minds. We need to simply spend time crying out to God to guide and lead us in becoming the church He has called us to be. I have no doubt that we can overcome the financial challenge of  replacing the roof, one way or another. However, I also have no doubt that if we, as a church, do not seek God together, we will miss His greatest blessings. We will miss out on growing stronger and deeper in our relationships with each other and with Him.

With that in mind, we ask each and every person in your family (from the youngest to the oldest) to commit to the following over the next 30, 60, and 90 days.

I have no reservations in asking each of you to commit to this. I know as we all commit in seeking God in prayer, we will begin to see Him work in a fresh and new way in the lives of each of us who call His church at Gatlin Creek home. And if that was not enough, we will all see a new roof on the Educational Building as we come to worship God together on Sunday.

Your Brother in Christ,

Pastor Mitch Conner
